    Description

    Starrett #20-36 Master Precision Square
36" master machinist square in excellent condition and ready for immediate use.
Pre-sale calibration performed in August 2021 by Precision Calibration Systems (Morristown, TN) using internal QA specifications provided by Starrett.  The Starrett QA specifications and calibration results are provided in the photos.
The 36" master square was manufactured by Starrett with, due to weight, with a built-in extendable "steady rest" for the beam.  I do not think modern/new 20-36 squares from Starrett are provided with this feature.  This square weighs 40lbs with the majority of the weight in the beam making this unique feature very useful.
    Very light inventory etching.
Mahogany case is in excellent condition and has been refinished with reproduction graphics and three coats of clearcoat resulting in a stunning
    iridescence

    Condition Specifics
This square has not been abused; however, it does have a few stains in the steel that do not impact accuracy.  Please keep this square lightly oiled with a preservative, per Starrett QA instructions, to prevent future blemishes.
There is no pitting due to improper storage or rust.
There are no hidden blemishes or issues on/with omitted from the photos.  What you see is what you get and can be confident an online purchase won't arrive with surprises.
    Shipping Preparation
All large items I sell are shipped in custom-made cartons using #200 / 32ECT corrugated board and designed with 2" of head space on all sides of the item.  For this particular item, the square will be surrounded inside the mahogany frame with shipping foam to prevent the square from banging left-right in the frame during shipping.
The entire square/frame will be bound in shipping poly-wrap to ensure that the square does not shift out of the frame during shipping.
Bottom line, it will be sent to you with proper packaging, as with anything I sell, to prevent damage during shipment.
    Comments
    “Item better than described!”
“Typically, sellers show you the better sides of the item for sale- if there is a blemish or flaw, that's the side they face down in photos, or don’t describe it as honestly as the item might be. You're one of the few sellers I've dealt with that the item is described THAT honestly.”
    “Item received exactly as advertised.”
“Shipped fast. Arrived well-packaged. Item in better condition than expected. Great value for the price.”
    FAQ’s
    ·
How are items prepared for sale?
Each item is cleaned, missing (or worn/chipped/ugly) parts replaced, and reburnished/polished where necessary.  While I do not provide calibration services, each item is checked against the standards included with the item to ensure nothing mechanically would prevent formal calibration.
For repainted items, only the best available primer/paint is used.  I focus on PPG products as their advice on industrial-quality solutions has proven to be reliable and does not cause me concern on the quality/wear characteristics of the materials I use.
    ·
    How do you rank items?
‘Excellent’ condition means the item has no mechanical issues, no nicks/chips or evidence of otherwise gentle/infrequent use, and properly stored between use.
‘Very Good’ condition means that I did not see the need to repaint an item that shows typical paint wear, or there might be very minor pitting on an interchangeable anvil.  If the pitting would impact usability, you will not see it offered for sale in the first place.
I do not sell anything that falls below ‘very good’.  It is just an invitation for buyer issues.
    ·
Your prices are sometimes high.  Why?
It is simple.  I do not sell junk and describe my items fully (sometimes to my detriment).  I work off 12+ years of Ebay sales data (55,000+ data points) I have diligently collected (not Worthpoint data) so I can fairly price items based on condition.
U.S. and U.S. Territory buyers only.
    No international sales.
