    Description

    Description
    This is a great piece
that was salvaged from a Baltimore home.
It is made of mixed soft woods and is painted.
The legs have fluted pilasters with ornate starbursts at the top.
The central panel of the breast features a sitting woman surrounded by putti harvesting crops, resting in the shade of trees and drinking from a jug.
The central panel and starbursts are likely gesso and can not be stripped, this mantel was meant to be painted.
Overall it is 92.25 inches wide by 55 tall and 8.5 deep.
The opening is 72.25 inches wide by 42 tall.
Overall, it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning.
The paint is chipping in places with bare wood showing. The ends of the shelf have cut outs, there were likely wall pilasters at the ends. The molding around the opening has odd cut outs along the backs. Please look at the pictures carefully.

    Terms of Sale
I accept returns only if my description is inaccurate. For example, if I pull an item from a building that I believe to be original to the house and it is later discovered to be a reproduction, or if I enter an incorrect measurement, I will allow the buyer to return the item. I describe all my items as accurately as possible with descriptions and often pictures of any damage. I try to measure within 1/8 of an inch.
    About Us
My salvage business was born of necessity in 1993 when I started restoring an old Victorian home that had seen better days. I needed doors, staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. I found and purchased all of the things that I needed for my project and lots of extra treasures which I eventually resold. 17 years later this is still my full time job! I salvage whatever I can think can be reused as long as there is room in my warehouse. The warehouse is open for treasure hunting anytime by appointment. Just contact me to schedule a day and time! Thanks for visiting.  Steve and Michelle
