80's sports cars weren't necessarily about raw power like cars before and after, but more about fun and driving enjoyment. This 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula, with only 97,310 original touring miles, I have the pleasure to present captures all of that in a fun, compact design. This car has been in the same family nearly all of its life, and it shows. Its primary purpose was for weekend trips up and down the Eastern Seaboard. She has been meticulously cared for and maintained, and is quite possibly the cleanest, most complete 1988 Fiero Formula around.
Exterior:
Covering every square inch of the original body panels is a rich lustrous ruby red finish with depth that you can get lost in. I would give the paint a strong 8.5 out of 10. The trunk deck has a few blemishes including two small scratches that have been touched up. There is also some very light spidering on the lower driver’s side quarter panel that is confined to about a 3” area. (camera would not pick it up) Other than the listed areas the paint is nearly perfect. The paint was recently color corrected and finished off with a super slick ceramic coating. The wheels do have some clear coat peeling that is starting, but undetectable from 5 feet away. All of the original glass is in great condition with no chips or cracks.
Interior:
Open either door and step into iconic 80’s automobile design. From the seats to the dash to the door panels and center console, the interior is about as showroom perfect as you can get. The one and only issue with the interior is the steering wheel is a bit squishy when hot. All gauges and interior lighting function properly as does the radio and all other interior features. The shifter has been replaced with a Fiero Sport Shifter, however the original shifter is still with the car.
Mechanical:
Under the hood you will find the zippy L44 2.8L V6 power plant. Engine does not leak or smoke and runs nice and cool on those long road trips. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts firm and crisp. Clutch engages and releases extremely easy and smooth. Handling is achieved through the renowned WS6 perfromance handling package. Each corner of the car is anchored with brand new touring radial rubber. This car has been meticulously serviced and maintained its entire life and it shows. To describe This car described in one word is simply Smooth.
