"The Chevy Tri-Five lineup is host to some of the best-looking cars ever made." -H&H Classic Parts for Chevrolets
As true as that H&H statement is about the beautiful design work that graced the '55 (Tri-Five) Chevrolets when they rolled off the assembly lines some 66 years ago, the customized '55 offered here dramatically exceeds the original car with exemplary craftwork throughout. Every single aspect of the car-powertrain, exterior finishing, interior detail and overall visual effect-has been creatively evaluated and painstakingly re-executed with an attention to the smallest detail. The effect is nothing short of stunning. There isn't a square inch of this black beauty that hasn't been taken to the next level, or beyond. And yet, the Bel Air original look is still there... reimagined, yet respected.
Power: Beginning with the heart of the car, opening the hood (with its added under-hood lattice bracing and billet aluminum compound hinges, each one automotive artwork) reveals a massive 454 cubic-inch V8 resplendent in chrome, silver engine-block paint, and valve air-cleaner covers in black, a visual reference to the car's exterior. No components have been mounted to the fenders or firewall, so the look is "all power." Even most of the car's added vintage air-conditioning system components have been hidden away. (The exception is the evaporator core forward of the radiator.) Looked at from below, the black-and-silver theme continues, focusing one's attention on the engine's chrome oil pan, suspension enhancements, full-length dual-exhaust system, 700R4 automatic transmission, disc brakes at all four corners, and 10-bolt posi-traction rear end. The clever build details on the chassis suspension-and the immaculate condition-are a delight for the eyes.
Exterior: The Bel Air's custom black paint shines deeply with a high gloss across the entire body. All badging has been removed; the bespoke bodyside chrome trim remains. Front and rear chrome bumpers have been fully restored to perfection; cabin glass and lighting lenses display the same perfection. The front grille has been restored to better-than-new, but it retains the model's classic look. Five-spoke chrome wheels complete the custom presentation.
Interior: Every aspect of the interior has been taken to a high level. Red is the theme. New leather seating-front buckets and full-width rear bench-as comfortable as it is beautiful-stands out. The upholstery features delicately thin trim lines echoing the chrome trim look throughout the car. V-design chrome door trim is perfectly executed on the red panels. Thick red carpeting covers the cabin floor with matching carpet mats for protection. The dashboard retains the model's original look, but in a thoroughly updated fashion. (All interior work was performed by Pro Auto Custom Interiors.) Updated, white-faced gauges are arrayed in the "v" facing the driver. The chrome trim running horizontally across the dash is in pristine condition, as are all retained chrome switchgear. Vintage air-conditioning vents have been nicely added to the lower dash. In a special detail, the custom chrome steering wheel design matches the car's chrome wheels. The dash and the added console (where the automatic-transmission, heritage-look shifter is located) are all color-matched in red. Billet-aluminum floor pedals are mounted. The interior detail in the car's trunk attests to the creator's commitment to perfection. Red carpeting, custom trim work on the trunk walls, aluminum-hinged hidden access panels, and even a red treatment on the underside of the trunk lid make for a "wow" reaction every time that lid is lifted.
This remarkable Tri-Five Bel Air has another "5" to its credit: The car has traveled just 5 miles since all its hundreds of hours of custom work was completed.
The more than 160 high-definition photographs and the accompanying link to a short walk-around-and-startup video available at the GarageKeptMotors site accurately present the condition of this beautifully customized '55 Chevy. That said, a unique vehicle of this caliber deserves an in-person inspection by any prospective purchaser. You are most welcome to visit our Grand Rapids, Michigan showroom for that purpose. We ask only that you get in touch in advance for an appointment so that we can devote our attention to giving you a complete tour of this amazing custom. (Our showroom is not open to the public.) We are happy to answer questions about this Tri-Five; feel free to contact us by way of email or phone.
The next owner of this '55 Bel Air will enjoy the twin satisfaction of enjoying the car on their own and sharing it with like-minded enthusiasts at shows and get-togethers. Receiving "thumbs-up" responses from fellow drivers and the stares, accolades, and delight of onlookers will never grow old.

About Garage Kept Motors
Garage Kept Motors, LLC specializes in classic and specialty online auto sales.
For our consignors, we are the only auto brokers that offer a Transparent Sale Disclosure. This means, when a car sells, we provide an exact copy of the Bill of Sale. We do this so our clients know exactly who bought their car, where it went, and most importantly how much we sold it for. No funny business.
For our buyers, our vehicles are listed on the Internet, with over 100 photos, including undercarriage pictures, and walk-around videos of the vehicles running plus a narrative-style write-up of the cars history and features. Our international exposure allows us to sell cars across the globe, and we sell a majority of them out of state and overseas. We deliver honesty and consistency in our photos and descriptions, a “no surprise” approach, so buyers, both near and far, can invest with confidence sight unseen. We are not a gallery. Vehicles can be seen locally by appointment as potential buyers are given our undivided attention.
