The 1955 Chevrolet is the most ICONIC and sought after cars in all history. Here is a rare example of one that has been kept all original. This Chevrolet started its life in Sunny California and was purchased in 1971 by the couple we purchased the car from. It was brought to Nebraska when the couple moved here in 2009. We have service receipts on the Chevrolet dating back to 1972 verifying the ownership we are describing. Miles on the ’55 odometer currently read 25,767 and is most likely 125,767.
The ’55 features a 235 CU IN Six-Cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed column shift transmission. The engine on the car runs out perfectly and the transmission/clutch work properly. This is one that you could drive home.
The exterior of the ’55 has had one repaint several years ago and is still presentable, but now has some fading and is of a driver quality. There are a couple of dents on the deck lid and a few scratches. The stainless steel and grille are in great shape and the bumpers look very good. The only rust we could find is a minor spot in the floor pan which would be an easy fix with a replacement panel.
The interior of the ’55 looks amazing from the clean door panels to the factory bench seat and untouched dash panel and appears to be original excepting possibly the carpet kit.
We are diggin’ the period correct aluminum wheels with the whitewall tires. It just gives the ’55 a solid “hotrod” look. We do have the stock ’55 wheels and wheel covers that we will include with the sale. Imagine driving this ’55 down the street getting thumbs up from bystanders, it gets attention everywhere we take the car!
FINAL THOUGHTS: It is almost impossible to believe that we were able to find a 66 year old car in such a virgin condition that was owned by the same person for over 50 years. This ’55 certainly could be driven just as it sits and would also make a great platform to build your next street car! It’s much easier to build something that has never been altered.
